Chronicles of a Procrastinating Novelist Volume 27: Artistic Vision Fairy

Neurotic, Myopic, and incurably optimistic, she's so maniacally possessed of the beauty of her own vision she'll hear no contradictions. Sworn enemy of Gut Instinct Fairy, she'll insist, "The theme is where we begin!" while Gut Instinct Fairy counsels, "Story first, theme grows from there." Artistic Vision bellows, "It has to be in third person!" Gut whispers, "Do it in first." Vision wails, "It's a novellette!" Instinct sighs, "You can lose 2,000 words and get the same point across." Without Artistic Vision around, to transform Inspiration Fairy's nuggets into pearls, the ideas would go nowhere, and hers' is often the purest standard to strive for. But you mustn't rank her too high in the echelon of influencing factors. She'll skew you in a heartbeat and ignore you the next.

She's a flighty, stubborn thing to be appreciated, not followed with slavish devotion.

Thank you for reading.
